Scripture:

And he said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground.  He sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows; he knows not how.  The earth produces by itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.  But when the grain is ripe, at once he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”  Luke 4:26-29

My word for 2015:  Expectant

  • having or showing an excited feeling that something is about to happen, especially something pleasant and interesting
  • the state of looking forward to the coming or occurrence of
  • eager
  • excited
  • waiting
  • hopeful
  • anticipation

…and thus began my original post a year ago.

God taught me much this year.  He guided me on paths where He shed His Light.  He wove words here at Being Woven for many to learn, to grow, to find comfort and wisdom, including me.  He exposed His Son to many who needed, and still may need, Him.

Some of the words I have shared this Christmas season were of Simeon and Anna who waited expectantly for the Messiah.   I had hoped that I would have been more like these two beautiful people.  Yet, God never failed to show up to teach me and to grow me.  He was always there.  He always showed up.  He answered me.  He loved me.  He held me.

I did miss Him more times that I even know, more times because my eyes may have been closed, my ears and mind chose not to listen, my life too busy that I just did not know He was beside me.  I expected God often, but I was impatient and longing for Him to show up.  When He did not come on my time schedule, I often went ahead and figured things out myself, sometimes with disappointment or needing to lay my own ideas down…turning it all back to God.  I am learning.

Whatever the LORD pleases, He does,
in heaven and on earth,
in the seas and all deeps.  Psalm 135:6

I still expect God to lead me in His way from now on until He calls me Home.  This word “expectant” is still my word.  It is a special word for me now as I know that I can count on God to be with me always, to show up always for He never leaves me, never forsakes me.

…for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.  Philippians 2:13

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.  Hebrew 11:1

 C. S. Lewis said, “True faith is never found alone; it is accompanied by expectation.”

As I lift my eyes unto You, LORD, the One Who answers prayers, the One Who makes promises which are always kept, the One Who loves me unconditionally, my heart becomes filled with expectancy.  That expectancy is not only for things or my ways, but for You, God, my Father, to be ever present in my life.  I look to You, and You Alone.  As I grow in Your knowledge and wisdom, I will come to understand Your greatness more and more.  Dependent upon You, I want to live with an expectant heart, soul, and mind.  I pray in the Powerful and Holy Name of Jesus.  Amen.
